A Day in Washington, DC
I had the pleasure of visiting Washington, DC twice. I attended the dedication of Dr. King Momentum in October of 2011. 
5th Grade Trip
I visited again April 2014 with my daughter for her 5th grade trip. I remember the long walks. We visited several places. 
There are numerous historic places to visit in Washington, DC. Here are a few notable ones:
- The White House: The official residence of the President of the United States, the White House is a symbol of American democracy and history.
- The National Mall: This iconic open space is home to many national landmarks, such as the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
- U.S. Capitol: The legislative branch of the U.S. government resides here, and it is worth exploring for its architecture and historic significance.
- Ford’s Theatre: Known for being the site of President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, it is now a working theater and museum dedicated to preserving Lincoln’s legacy.
- National Archives: Home to the original copies of important U.S. documents, such as the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights.
- Smithsonian Institution: This collection of museums and research centers offers a wealth of history, including the National Museum of American History and the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
- Library of Congress: The largest library in the world, it houses millions of books, historical artifacts, and manuscripts.
- Mount Vernon: Located just outside Washington, DC, this historic site was the plantation home and final resting place of George Washington, the first President of the United States.
These are just a few examples, and there are many other historic places to explore in Washington, DC.
